ZHANKAR BEATS DANCE CLUB ACTIVITIES ROUND THE YEAR 2010-11
•	“Dance Dhamaka” was held on 13/8/2010 at H. L. Plaza.
•	“JOSH” Inter College Dance Competition was organized by National Academy of Event management & Development (NAEMD) on 4th August 2010, at Tagore Hall.
•	Traditional Garba Competition was held on 9/10/2010 by J. G. College of Commerce (Second Prize).
•	Swarnim Gujarat (SAPTDHARA) was held on 7th September, 2010 at H.L.C.C. (First Prize).
•	Raga ‘N’ Rock Inter College Western Dance Competition was held on 20/12/2010 at H. L. Plaza (Organized by H. L. College of Commerce).

THEATRE ARTISTS’ CLUB
	•	WORKSHOP
		A full day workshop on the basics of Theatre was conducted by Mr. Pravinbhai on 26th August, 2010 in the college premises. Mr. Pravinbhai is a veteran who has been associated with the Theatre field since many years. The response by 30+ students attending the workshop was very encouraging.

	•	SWARNIM GUJARAT-CLUSTER LEVEL
		Under Swarnim Gujarat “Saptdhara”, “Natyadhara” was held at H. L. College of Commerce for the cluster level colleges on 6/10/2010. One-Act Play, Skit and Mono Acting Competitions were held; where H. L. College of Commerce came first in One-Act Play and second in Skit and Mono Acting.

	•	VEENAVALI-ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION
		One-Act Play competition was held by H. K. Arts College on 12th January, 2011. Our team participated in this competition.

PRIZE LIST-ORATOR’S PODIUM 2010-11
	•	Jainil Shah (TY) secured the 1st prize at an elocution competition organized by Chetna, an NGO.
	•	Shama Bhayani (TY-II) secured the 2nd prize at an elocution competition organized by Lions Club International District 323-B.
	•	Yamini Mudgil (SY-IV)secured the 3rd prize at the debate competition organized by HLCC and Rotary Club of Ahmedabad South (RID3050), 16 teams from diff. colleges participated.
	•	Jainil Shah (TV-IV) secured the 1st prize and Dharti Shah (TY-IV) secured the 3rd prize at the debate competition organized by C.C. Sheth College of Commerce.
	•	The team comprising of Jainil Shah (TY-IV) and Dharti Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize at the debate competition organized by cluster colleges under the Swarnim Gujarat Celebration.

	•	Students participated at essary-writing competitions organized by the following: a) Shah Chandulal Kasturchand Municipal Commerce College, Kalol. b) Government Arts College, Maninagar, Ahmedabad. c) Yuvak Vikas Trust, Ahmedabad

	•	Dharti Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize at the debate competition organized by Umiya Arts & Commerce College for girls.

	•	Dharti Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize and YAtiksha Chauhan (TY-II) secured the 3rd prize at ‘Pustak Gyan Pratibha Shodh Kasoti’ organized by City C. U. Shah Commerce College. Our college won the trophy for the year 2010-11.

	•	Jainil Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize at the debate competition organized by L. D. Arts College. He alongwith team member Ijan Vaidya (M.Com-II) won the coveted Mahadev Desai Vijaypadma for 2010-11.

	•	Trupti Rao (TY-III) secured the 2nd prize at the Hindi Debate competition organized by C. U. Shah Arts College.

	•	Aishwarya Iyer (FY-II) secured the 3rd prize at an elocution competition organized by Lions Club of Ahmedabad Sola.

	•	Jainil Shah (TY-IV) participated in all 5 competitive events at ‘Intellectus 2011’ organized by H. L. Institute of Commerce and was declared the 1st Runners-up at the overall competition. He secured the 1st prizes at 3 competitions viz. personality contest, Book review and Group discussion. He also secured the 2nd prize at Speaking (Extempore) competition.

	•	Jainil Shah (TY-IV) secured the 2nd prize at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Rajap Vijaypadma Debate Competition organized by Sardar Vallabhbhai Arts College.

	•	The college organized the inter-class S.C. Dwivedi Elocution Trophy Competition where Jainil Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize Vani Doodhat (TY-II) secured the 2nd prize Dharti Shah (TY0IV) secured the 3rd prize.

	•	The college organized the All-Gujarat Mahatma Gandhi Elocution Trophy Competition for the 70th time.

	•	Students also participated at other competitions: Manish Shah (TY-IV) participated at the elocution competition of Geeta Jayanti Samarambh organized by L. D. Arts College.
		Puja Joshi (FY-II), Eljo Kurian (SY-II) and Yamini Mudgil (SY-IV)participated at the Spell Bug-2010 organised by H. L. Institute of Commerce.
		Jigar Soni (TY-IV) wrote an essary for the Prof. B. R. Shenoy Memorial Trophy Competition organized by City C. U. Shah Commerce College. He was selected for the final round.

	•	An intra-college book-review competition was organized under “Vaanche Gujarat”, where : Dharti Shah (TY-IV) secured the 1st prize Jainil Shah (TY-IV) secured the 2nd prize Aishwarya Iyer (FY-II) secured the 3rd prize.

Harmony Club Activity

HL College’s Music club is called the Harmony Club. The students participate in various events under this club. The events are as follows:
1. Indian Light Vocal.
2. Indian Group Singing
3. Indian Classical Singing
4. Western Solo Singing
5. Western Group Singing
6. Classical Instrument both Percussion and Non-Percussion

Students of our college participate in Youth-Festival which is conducted by Gujarat University in all the above events.

Since last 5-6 years (please confirm the exact years) HL College is hosting the inter-collegiate Dance and Music Competition called RAGA N ROCK, Wherein the Students of different colleges participate in different events. The events are as under:
1. Hindi Film and Non-Film Solo Singing Competition
2. Hindi Film and Non-Film Duet Singing Competition
3. Western Solo Singing Competition
4. Western Group Singing Competition

Under the Harmony Club, Students also take part in our Annual Culfest –Expressions in various events:

3. Antankshari
4. Gujarati Sugam Sangeet (Non-Competitive item)

On 15th August and 26th January our Harmony Club students also perform Patriotic Songs representing our College both at HL Plaza and at Gujarat University respectively.

This year our college students also participated in various musical events organized by Gujarat University under the aegis of ‘Swarnim Gujarat’ Celebrations.
