The CWDC’s Workshops:

The Collegiate Women’s Development Cell has been actively conducting workshops to hone the women physically, mentally and financially. To improve women physically CWDC had organized Karate workshop last year. To make them mentally strong CWDC had organized Yoga, Meditation workshop last year and then it was time to make them financially strong.

The CWDC is conducting workshops to hone the latent skills in the field of handicraft of the students. Various seminars are also organized wherein gynecologists, dermatologist and other doctors are invited to give lectures in the area of their expertise. Not only that, they are ever-ready to solve the queries of the student. As Mark Van Doren once said “the art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery” and in the quest of students to discover their hidden capacities, assistance is given by Prof-in-charge of CWDC, Prof. Nisha S. Bhavsar and Prof. Manisha S. Bhavsar, the credit of running the CWDC smoothly goes solely to them.

For making those financially strong following workshops were held. The main aim of these workshops was to develop basic skills of handicraft and hand embroidery among students to equip them to “Learn as well as Earn”

Recently, in July, CWDC had conducted a 7-day workshop in which basic handembroidery was taught.32 students of the collage participated in it. This workshop was organized by banner of CWDC and conductor was Ms. Neha Sanghvi.

This workshop was proved as a boon to the Girls coming from weak economic background. Over and above this 8 to10 girls have started contributing in their family’s income by earning and charging Rs. 50 per kurti and more, as per design demand.

Another workshop regarding basic handicraft was organized in July, 09, in which a total of 81 students participated. Mr. Bhavesh Zala conducted the workshop.
Students gets motivated to participate in the various handicraft competitions held in the college because they have learned handicraft now.

CWDC invited the renowned gynecologist Dr Hetal Benani in July-August 2009, who conducted a seminar on women health problems, in collaboration with Blue-cross Laboratory.
Once lecture was delivered, students put forward their questions which were happily answered by Dr. Benani. More than 250 students actively joined the seminar.

“Enthusiasm is energy that boils over and runs down the side of the pot.” The words of Arnold Glasow are quite true. The enthusiasm with which students participated in these workshops is really creditable. It serves as an impetus for college to organize many such lectures.
