An ESL workshop was organized on 22nd Jan,2018 at HL auditorium with the theme of COMPASSING COMPREHENSIBLE INPUT.110 undergraduate students from 12 colleges (Guj .Uni) participated in the workshop.
Students were engaged in English Language Learning (ELL) activities like listening comprehension and reading comprehension. With the intention of checking the students’ current reading comprehension ability, reading passages were given to the students in the form of drill. General linguistics premise “Comprehension leads to creativity” was observed in the activity related to story writing.
Dr.Mona Kelshikar, the principal and the head of the English Department, addressed the workshop by giving the detailed definition of ‘ESL’ and ‘techniques for the comprehension of passages’. Prof.Yogendra Shastri discussed the motif of workshop by giving the details regarding CEFR ( Common European Frame of References) and ACTFL ( American Council for Teaching Foreign Languages) ratings in ESL. He presented 3 ESL activities by engaging students to write a story on a prompt. A group of HL college students presented listening comprehension activities. At the end of the session, participation certificates were given to the participants.
