HLCC and IMS Ahmedabad organized an interactive session on “CEO DNA” on August 1st, 2023, with Mr. Abhishek Singh Gautam (CMO, IMS Ahmedabad) as the speaker. He emphasized CEOs are moulded by experiences, not just practice. Contrary to popular beliefs, practice doesn’t ensure perfection; positive habits matter. CEO DNA is different, cultivated in institutions like IIMS, XLRI, NMIMS, FMS, Symbiosis, and IMS.
CEOs grow within institutions rather than applying through ads. Important questions addressed were the time expected from a CEO (10-15 years) and the right age (late or mid-30s, but young CEOs are emerging due to innovation). Examples of ICICI Bank and Amazon Go showcased technology’s transformative power.
Gautam highlighted India’s IT transformation despite initial computer hesitancy. Chetan Bhagat’s IIT to IIM journey inspired. Two major management roles: shaping technology development and research.
Success depends on the chosen journey, as shown by entrepreneurs like Dhirubhai Ambani and Elon Musk, whose ideologies are taught in top MBA institutions. The session was informative, fun, and successful with Mr. Gautam’s expertise.
